The pound is currently trading against the euro at £1.123, having fallen again from yesterday’s figures of £1.126.

Following a tense meeting between EU chief Donald Tusk and Theresa May regarding post-Brexit plans, the exchange rate has suffered once again.

The pair met yesterday to discuss the controversial EU document which outlines a hard border being in place for Northern Ireland.

Theresa May has rejected the decision for fears it would divide the UK.

Meeting in No 10 Downing Street, it follows from the leaked document yesterday that suggested Ireland could stay in the customs union when the UK leaves the EU.

A Downing Street source told The Times yesterday: "We are fully committed to implementing the December agreement but the EU should be absolutely clear that the prime minister is not going to sign up to anything that threatens the constitutional integrity of the UK or its common market."

Donald Tusk suggested that the Prime Minister would need to tone down the EU red lines to get a good deal.

He was heard saying he was “not happy” according to The Sun.
